Spin the Globe... Part 2.

At this point, Tape and Glue Music has become sort of a glorified fan page for flor and Lostboycrow... but I can't find any problem with that so lets roll with it.

I have written.... and rewritten... and rewritten this post about a hundred times, hence why it's going up two weeks after the show, but I can't really find the right words to explain how absolutely amazing these shows were.

I guess I'll start with the first show in Dallas. I began my day with a quick 3.5 hour drive (compared to last tour and my 17 hour straight drive that I'll talk about until the day I die because really, who does that?), and ended up in Dallas way too early with a whole lot of nerves and an embarrassing amount of snacks that I had picked up at 3 different Buc-ee's along the way... no shame in my Buc-ee's game, y'all. Snacks in hand, I wandered around the city, counting down the minutes until it was an acceptable time to be at the venue, going through my mental checklist over and over again ("camera, battery, memory card"), then, at an appropriate 6pm I got to the House of Blues.

To say Lostboycrow is the most patient human I've ever met is the understatement of the millenium. We met up for a few photos before doors and he put up with all of my anxious rambling and the moments when it was very obvious that I have only been a photographer for a little over 5 minutes.... god bless this man.

To only add to my complete lack of chill, Dysn kicked off the evening with an acoustic set that simultaneously added 10 years to my life while also ending it. Aside from my bootleg audio that I ripped from fan accounts on youtube, I don't have much Dysn to listen to outside of these shows, so any little bit I get is a gift.

Next came Prelow, or Pre and Low if you're cool. I have been totally obsessed with this band in the months since the first run of the tour, and was beyond excited to see them again (now that I knew all the words to their songs that I had been begging them to release *cough, good people do bad things, cough*). Prelow are so effortlessly cool, they exude confidence with an idgaf attitude that I could only aspire to have.

A Lostboycrow show is a trip inside a curated world of his design, an escape from whatever shit you have outside, and one of my happiest places. His talent is undeniable but the way he completely engages everyone in the room is truly powerful (no pun intended.... ok maybe a little bit). In all honesty, I was a little disappointed when I saw a few of my favorites had been pulled from the setlist for this leg, but once I saw everything all together, it made all the sense in the world. My favorite part of the set was Church With No Ceiling, a song that, despite having only been released a few weeks before the tour, has become very special to me. If I could live in that song forever I would.... plus we get lostboy giving us his best TPain, we are truly #blessed.

The next day in Houston was a little less nerve racking and more about having fun and enjoying the show. Even though it was the same exact set, this show was so different and perhaps even more special because it was very intimate ( a select few people got to witness it and I was one of them, thankfully). It was one of those shows where I know in a few years I'll be saying "I can't believe he's playing (insert massive venue name here), I remember when I saw him in this teeny tiny room in Houston that was in the middle of a mall".

Sometimes I swear it feels like the universe gives you exactly what you need at exactly the right time. To be honest, I was feeling uninspired, I doubted my ability and destroyed my mental health by comparing myself to everyone else, but this group of people made me feel special, like someone finally heard me and saw what I can do, and for that I can't thank them enough.

Spin the Globe Tour, I'm gonna miss ya, you were good to me (but I wouldn't be opposed to round 3.... maybe its time the guys just formed a supergroup, lostdysnlow, dylowcrow...we can work on the name).
