Vance Joy and Lovelytheband in Houston
On May 2, Vance Joy brought his new Album, Nation of Two, to Houston, TX with one of my favorite bands, Lovelytheband.
Lovelytheband is always so much fun and full of energy, and this show was no exception. I was dancing and singing along the whole time, and honestly, I wished their set was longer because I was enjoying it way too much.
For my first time seeing Vance Joy (officially, I'd seen him a few times at acoustic lounge events for work, but never the full production) I didn't know what to expect. Vance was absolutely magical, with every song the lights told a new story and he shared anecdotes about the meaning behind every one, bringing us into his world and capturing the attention of everyone in the room.
However, my favorite part of the night was after the show when Vance brought in a huge group of fans that had been waiting after the show to meet him, including a photo opp with a professional photographer, absolutely free. I've been to plenty of shows where the bands have come outside to meet fans, but something about having a real meet and greet for free that most artists would charge hundreds for was so special and something I hope more artists will follow in the future.
Overall, I loved this show and even though I was unfamiliar with a lot of the set, I enjoyed every second and can't wait for his next tour to come through.
