PVRIS at Emo's

My first PVRIS show was definitely the first of many.

For a few years now I have been a casual listener of PVRIS, and I finally got to see them live this month. I hadn’t been this excited for a show in a while and it definitely did not disappoint!

The show started with Royal and the Serpent, a relatively new band that has been making waves on social media this year. This band was unlike anything I have ever seen before, the lead singer was so unapologetically herself, and performed with a boldness and presence that was magnetic. Immediately, they ramped up the energy and created a fun and exciting atmosphere for the rest of the show. It’s always so exciting to discover new favorites at shows, I can’t wait to see what they do next.

PVRIS is a band that puts on the kind of show that you never forget. Lead singer Lynn completely dominates the stage and commands attention at every moment. It was incredible to see her utilize the stage and perform with such powerful emotion for each song. Even with such a dominant presence, she was very vulnerable and created an environment for the fans that felt safe and welcoming. She interacted with the crowd and made everyone feel like they were important and like she was grateful for each and every person in the room. My favorite part about this set was the simplicity of the production, with monochromatic lighting and a stage that left Lynn front and center and with nothing but empty space around her (the rest of the band were on risers towards the back of the stage). The production highlighted Lynn’s talent and really put on display her complete control of the room.

In addition to some of my familiar favorites, I found each new song exciting and immediately added all of them to my playlists. I think it’s safe to say that PVRIS is one of the greatest live acts I have seen, and now one of my favorite bands. I won’t hesitate to come out to their next show, and quite frankly, neither should you.
