Alexander 23 at scoot inn

Alexander 23 brought his latest tour to Austin, TX and I was lucky enough to catch it.

My second time seeing Alexander 23 was somehow better than the first (which I honestly didn’t think could happen, I loved that first show so much!). It was immediately evident that he has grown into a full blown star, with all the confidence and stage presence of someone twice his age. Three songs in, Alexander told the crowd goodnight and left the stage, only to return and play the rest of the set like an encore. This instantly lifted the crowd and made everyone even more obsessed with him, it was one of my favorite parts of the night!

He played all the favorites like “Dirty AF1s” and “Cry Over Boys” as well as a Kelly Clarkson cover (“Since U Been Gone”, a CLASSIC). I had an absolute blast with the crowd, dancing and singing along to every song. I found myself really sad when it was over and instantly ready for the next time he comes to town.

If you have an opportunity to see Alexander 23, take it, you won’t regret it for a second!

Joywave at emo’s

Y’all. I think I’ve found one of my new favorite bands.

Recently Joywave came through Austin and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to catch their set. They were SO much fun, their energy was unmatched. My favorite part of their set was the dedication to the theme, they were all dressed as auto shop workers with a car on stage and background visuals to match. I was pretty unfamiliar with their music going in, but I left a massive fan. They played songs like “It’s a Trip” and “Tongues” that quickly became a staple in my playlists.

If you have the chance to catch a Joywave show, do it. You won’t regret it.

phoebe bridgers at moody amphitheater

I’m no stranger to a Phoebe Bridgers show, but her recent show at Moody Amphitheater was one of the best shows I’ve ever been to.

Over the last 2 years, I’ve seen Phoebe Bridgers perform seven times, each performance getting better and better. Phoebe is vulnerable, raw, funny, charming and wildly talented. With such heavy themes in her music, the comic relief that Phoebe provides just brings everyone together, or as one fan put it “she makes you laugh before you cry”. A Phoebe Bridgers show is cathartic to the extreme and chaotically beautiful.

My favorite Phoebe song, “Graceland Too” continues to be my favorite moment of every show. Something about singing the line “she knows she lived through it to get to this moment” with a giant crowd brings chills every time. The community that Phoebe has created with her music is beyond special and the most welcoming environment.

One thing is for certain, I will never miss when Phoebe Bridgers comes to Austin.

Almost Monday at ACL Live

This month, Almost Monday played at ACL Live in Austin, TX in support of The Driver Era.

Almost Monday had a big job starting the show and they totally delivered. I had so much fun dancing and singing along with the crowd. This band has such an electric energy, you couldn’t help but fall in love with them.

My favorite song had to be “Parking Lot View”, a perfect pop song that’ll be stuck in your head for DAYS after the show, I’ve added it to just about all of my playlists. A close second was “Live Forever”, it had the whole room dancing from start to finish.

I know for sure that the next time they come through ATX, I’ll be there.

Suki Waterhouse at Moody Amphitheater

Recently, Suki Waterhouse played at the Moody Amphitheater in Austin, TX in support of  Father John Misty.

Y’all.  When I say I was excited to see Suki Waterhouse I mean it was all I could think about for WEEKS. I’ve been a massive fan of Suki for a while and was over the moon when she announced that she was going on her first tour.

For it being her first tour, Suki has such incredible stage presence and knows how to captivate an audience. I had so much fun singing along to my favorite songs like Melrose Meltdown and Moves, and hearing some of the songs from her new album.

I can’t wait for this new album to come out and to see what Suki does next, I know it’s going to be incredible.
