Artist You Gotta Know: Catfish and The Bottlemen.
I stumbled upon Catfish and The Bottlemen during my brief stint of One Direction insanity a few years ago. I was listening to a Spotify playlist curated by Louis Tomlinson when a song called Kathleen by a band with a funny name came on. I liked the song initially, but when I found myself singing it, or humming it for a week straight, I knew I had found a good band.
CATB are a British indie rock band with music that is the perfect representation of the stereotypical "rock star" lifestyle. Every song is full of energy, the kind of music that you can't help but sing at the top of your lungs while driving. Now, if you're looking for something low-key, you won't find it here. They do every song big, with catchy choruses and an upbeat tempo to keep you dancing.
Why should you love CATB?
simple. Because in this day and age, it's really hard to find a band that is no-nonsense. It's pretty rare to see someone actually pick up an instrument (well, maybe not with most of the bands I listen to, because I actively search, but you get the point) and CATB delivered 2 solid albums of plain and simple rock music, something that hasn't been around in a while.
A few of my favorites to get you started:
1. Soundcheck
2.Business (warning, this will get stuck in your head, you'll find yourself singing it in the grocery store, at work, everywhere)
3.Cocoon
4. Anything
5.Twice
And of course, 6. Kathleen
Let me know what you think!
