Coin at Emo’s

After 7 Coin shows, I’m not only a Coin super fan, I am a lifelong fan.

Y’all. Coin just keeps getting better and better. It’s amazing to see Coin play a sold-out show at Emo’s when just a few years ago I saw them play to a crowd of 100 at Stubb’s Jr.

My favorite thing about Coin shows is the audience, from ad-libs that seem to be known universally, to the feeling of family and camaraderie, there truly is nothing like a Coin show.

Every time I’ve seen Coin live, not only does the band get more and more confident, but it always looks like they’re having the time of their lives. This band is clearly grateful for and so invested in their fans that you can feel it in every moment of their performance.

My favorite songs, Malibu 1992 and Finger’s Crossed, have always been the best part of the show for me, but it was so exciting to see them play the songs that they hadn’t really performed before this tour.

One thing is for sure, I will never stop going to Coin shows, it truly feels like a homecoming with each one. I’m so grateful for this band and the family they’ve created.

Valley at Emo’s

Y’all, let me tell you, Valley is one of the greatest live acts I’ve seen in a long time.

I came into this show a very casual fan, I had a few Valley songs scattered around my playlists, after this set I can’t stop listening to everything they’ve ever released.

It was very evident the second they went on stage that they had the entire audience wrapped around their fingers. Lead singer Rob was electrifying. The hysteria from the crowd reminded me of the videos you see of girls screaming for The Beatles, they screamed and cheered so loud you could barely make out the music at some points in the set.

My favorite part of the set was the interactions between the band members. It makes a huge difference for me when you can see that the band is genuinely having fun on stage, and Valley looked like they we’re having the time of their lives.

I am already counting down to their next show in Austin, trust me, it’s a can’t-miss.

Gallery: Grayscale in Dallas

My second time seeing Grayscale was nothing short of perfection.

To be able to see a band like Grayscale in a club setting is truly an opportunity you’d be crazy to skip out on. This band was made to perform, everything from their stage setup to their setlist and crowd interactions was so much fun and exciting.

Lead singer Collin demands attention and knows how to work a crowd better than most artists I know. I am admittedly not super familiar with every song, but I found myself singing along and screaming like they were my favorite band by the end.

If you have the opportunity to see Grayscale perform, you won’t want to miss out.

Chloe Moriondo at Antone’s

Oh y’all do I have something to say about new artist Chloe Moriondo.

To be transparent, before this show, I hadn’t heard of Chloe Moriondo and decided to go in blind and be surprised and boy was I.

From the second she stepped on stage you could see that Chloe is a very different kind of artist. The energy in the room was so high and Chloe ate it up, running around Antone’s small stage and interacting with every fan that they could. I didn’t know the music but I honestly felt like I was at a concert from my favorite band by the time I left.

This set was so much fun and made even better by the kindness of her fans, who were all to eager to tell me their favorite songs and all about how they grew up with Chloe on Youtube.

Overall, this show was the perfect mix of weird, fun, exciting and energizing. If you have the opportunity to see Chloe perform, you’ll be missing out if you don’t take it.

The Midnight at Emo’s

You guys you guys. I can’t even figure out where to start with The Midnight.

This show felt like a homecoming, going to church, and the biggest party you’ve ever been to. Something about the energy The Midnight creates is electric, it’s literally impossible to have a bad time during their set.

Before this show, I had a select few songs scattered around my playlists, now they’re a staple in every single one. Everything from the stage design to the stage presence of the entire band was perfect. I probably looked like a cartoon character trying to catch every move during their set. My favorite thing about this show was the complete diversity of the crowd, you know a band is good when you have every sort of person in the audience.

I was very excited to hear my favorite song of theirs, Lost Boy, early on in the set, but I also really enjoyed Deep Blue and Los Angeles.

If you have the chance to see The Midnight live, take it, it will 100% be worth it. I am already looking forward to the next time they come through Austin.
