SHE’S BACK Y’ALL.

Lights is back and she’s doing it like no one else. This was my second time seeing Lights and I don’t know how she does it but she keeps getting better. Opening the set with Prodigal Daughter (total icon behavior), Lights set the tone for the night from the beginning, this was going to be a set to remember. I had so much fun dancing and singing all night long, the energy in the room was electric, everyone was having a blast the entire time.

My favorite thing about this set was Lights’ interaction with the crowd, she clearly cares so much for the people who care for her and it’s amazing to see, she even played one song simply because a fan mentioned it to her during the meet and greet, something not many artists would do. I met so many die-hard Lights fans that made me love her music even more, they told me all about their favorite songs, memories from past shows, and how much Lights has impacted their lives.

Lights is back and here to stay, and I couldn’t be more excited.

clairo at acl live

Clairo finally came back to Austin and I’m so glad I was there to see it. 

I recently had the opportunity to see Clairo perform at ACL Live and it was beyond perfection. Clairo has a stage presence that is so calm and inviting, she made the whole experience feel like you were hanging out in the living room with a few friends, not like you were in a crowd of a thousand. 

My typical gig is very high energy, all over the place and a dance marathon, so when I have the chance to chill out for a second, I take it. Clairo is the perfect mixture of relaxing and exciting, you can’t help but feel completely at ease when she’s performing. My favorite part of her set was when she performed my favorite song of hers, Bags, and when she brought out opening act Arlo Parks for Blouse. 

This was my second time seeing Clairo and her growth as an artist is unbelievable. Her set just keeps getting better and better, I can’t wait to see what she does next.

Girl in red at emo’s

Y’all.  I finally got to see Girl in Red live and it was everything. 

I’ve been a fan of Girl in Red for a few years now but her show in Austin, TX this month was my first time getting to see her live set. From the jump, she was all over the stage, running faster than my camera could catch up with. She was so full of energy and clearly beyond excited for the show that it had an overwhelming effect on the audience. Everyone went wild from start to finish, screaming every word and dancing along. 

My favorite part of her set was the times that she would show the audience little songs she made up backstage and tell everyone to look out for them on the radio next year. She played a few little tunes and made up lyrics on the spot, it was so genuine and made this huge show feel like you were just hanging out with one of your friends and a guitar. Oh and I can’t forget about the epic crowd surfing moment in the middle of the set, total rockstar moment! 

I know one thing for sure, if I get another opportunity to see Girl in Red live, I’m taking it as fast as I can.

Holly Humberstone at Emo’s

recently i had the opportunity to see Holly Humberstone open for Girl in Red at a sold-out show in Austin. 

I have been a fan of Holly Humberstone for a while, so when I finally got to see her live it was everything I wanted and more. Holly opened with my favorite song of hers, Overkill, which had me singing along in the photo pit immediately. Her vocal talents are beyond amazing but her lyrics are really what drives it home. 

For someone so young, Holly Humberstone is already beyond her years as a performer. I was blown away by the loops she made with her songs and the way she invited everyone into her music, her presence is very calming and welcoming, almost hypnotic. My favorite part of her set was when the crowd went absolutely wild for her song Scarlett, screaming the words and dancing along throughout the song (including me). 

One thing I know for sure is that I will be seeing Holly again the next time she comes to ATX.

fletcher at emo’s

I recently got the chance to see Fletcher in Austin, TX on her sold-out tour.

Y’all. When I say I’ve been borderline obsessed with Fletcher for a while now I mean it, so when I got the opportunity to see her on her latest tour, I was ecstatic.

Fletcher’s set was incredible, the stage setup was something I’d never seen before and created a show that was even more exciting than I thought it could be. She opened the set with my favorite song Girls, Girls, Girls, on top of a giant stage, commanding the audience from the jump.

My favorite thing about Fletcher’s performance was her interactions with her fans. She took a very big part of her set and dedicated it to spending time talking to individual fans and taking time to sign autographs mid-set.

I had so much fun dancing to my favorite songs like Cherry, Bitter, and One Too Many and meeting so many of her fans. I made so many friends and sang along to every song with them, the community that Fletcher created is so special and a lot of fun.

I already can’t wait until Fletcher comes back to Austin.
